“TeenNet” Proposal Now Online

I am appealing to Senator Obama to consider a proposal I put together last night.  It is about the federal government helping poor & lower middle class families who could qualify for small grants for purchasing internet capable refurbished/used laptop or desktop computers so students have access to the vast resources of the Internet.  As well as to all of the Universities/Schools that participate on the Network.  It’s important that EVERYONE not just the privledged students have access to the Internet so they can learn more about any subject that could eventually help them go to college and then obtain a career.  Our economy is worse off now because our education system has failed those who can not afford a computer or books.  It is time for the federal government to step in and offer some financial help to those families that need it most.

Please, Senator Obama, please support this most important matter : Our Education System.

How I Can Celebrate Father’s Day Now…

June 15, 2008 at 3:14 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

My Father, Bob, died of congestive heart failure on August 8th, 1995.  The last time I celebrated Father’s Day with him was 13 years ago when I was 23.  He was diagnosed with chf 1 and 1/2 years before and he was getting sicker & sicker by the month.  My brother was going to get married in August 1995, so many preparations were being made at the time for the wedding.  My Aunt Riitta, who lives in Denmark was flying to Bangor, Maine (where we lived,) my Father went into the Men’s bathroom and never came out.  I came in to discover him on the floor, unconscious.  I was shocked and I immediately told my Mother.  Paramedics rushed him to Saint Joseph’s Hospital.  He died two days later after he was taken off of life support.  He was 54.  I can talk about this tragic event now because it has been 13 long years later.   I now live in Massachusetts, I am a doting Uncle of 3 children, I’m a dog owner, a Writer, and an honest hard working single man.  I have learned a lot from my Father, the only way I can celebrate Father’s Day is to remember him and all that he did taught me.  I can still celebrate Father’s Day but only in my thoughts and prayers…

I love you, Dad!

I was shocked and very saddened to hear that one of the best Journalists the world has ever known died suddenly today, Friday the 13th, June 2008.  He was one of the reasons why I became a News Junkie in the first place.  He was a stern but fair man who had a great voice for reason and wanting to know the truth.  I will miss his honesty, his compassion for news and to family, his love of baseball, and his love for politics.

He will greatly be missed!!!

P.S.  My Dad was a News Junkie himself, He too died of heart failure, and as another Father’s Day comes & goes…  I mourn him every year since August 8th, 1995…

Indy Jones 4 : My Two Cents

19 years is too long but I’m glad you’re back, Indy!!!

I have been a fan of Henry “Indiana” Jones since the summer of 1981!
My late Dad, Bob, took me to see “Raiders of the Lost Ark” at a Drive-In
theater in Bangor, Maine in the summer of 1981.  I have loved every
incarnation of Indy since then.  Although it didn’t inspire me to write,
one of the Writers who worked on it also wrote “Star Wars - A New Hope,”
which did inspire me.  ”Indiana Jones” was George Lucas’ answer to
both James Bond and a homage to the films he grew up on.  Tom Selleck
was chosen to play “Indy” but Magnum PI forced him out, that was a great
thing because Harrison Ford was the best choice.  Now skip ahead
27 years later, “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” arrives in movie
theaters.  No, it is not as great as “Raiders,” but it is as good as the
third film “Last Crusade.”  Karen Allen returns as Marion
Ravenwood and Cate Blanchett plays a Soviet Agent who captures
Indy several times in order to find a Crystal Skull that bring
great power to any one who possesses it.  It is a hokey
film at times but it has a good heart like the previous films.
Well Done, Mr. Lucas, Mr. Spielberg, and Mr. Ford for re-uniting
and bringing us a well deserved finale to an incredible ride!!!

My Utter Outrage Against the Chinese & Burmese Governments!

I am outraged at both the Chinese and Burmese Governments for not allowing help from other countries after the disasters that came to their countries.  Now is the time for U.N. sanctions against these evil governments who don’t care about their own people.  Please speak up against this outrage!!!
